Bathroom Remodeling

Bathrooms are small rooms with a lot going on: plumbing, waterproofing, ventilation, electrical, tile and fixtures all in a tight space. The parts that matter most are the ones hidden behind the tile. We remodel bathrooms for homeowners across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, from simple updates to full gut renovations.

Types of bathroom remodels

  • Update: new vanity, toilet, fixtures, lighting, mirror and paint, keeping the existing tile and layout.
  • Full remodel: removing everything down to the studs, updating plumbing and wiring, and installing new tile, tub or shower, vanity and fixtures.
  • Tub-to-shower conversion: replacing a tub with a walk-in or curbless shower, popular for primary bathrooms and for ageing in place.
  • Accessible bathroom: wider entry, low or no-threshold shower, comfort-height toilet and solid blocking in the walls for grab bars.

What goes on behind the walls

A shower that looks perfect can still fail if water gets behind the tile. In every wet area we install a proper waterproofing system before tile goes on, and we pitch shower floors correctly to the drain. We also make sure the exhaust fan is sized for the room and vented outside rather than into the attic, which prevents mould and peeling paint. When walls are open, it is the right time to replace old supply lines, valves and drains.

Our process

1. Consultation. We look at the existing bathroom, talk through what bothers you about it and what you want, and agree on a budget range.

2. Selections. You choose tile, vanity, fixtures, lighting and accessories. We help with sizing and with what will work with your plumbing.

3. Permits. Plumbing and electrical changes often need permits; we handle them where required.

4. Demolition and rough work. Old materials come out, then plumbing, electrical and ventilation are updated and inspected.

5. Waterproofing and tile. Backer board and waterproofing go in, then floor and wall tile.

6. Fixtures and finish. Vanity, toilet, glass, trim, lighting and accessories, followed by a final walkthrough.

What affects the cost

  • Size of the room and how much tile is involved
  • Moving the toilet, shower or vanity to new locations
  • Tile, vanity and fixture choices
  • Glass shower enclosures and custom niches or benches
  • Condition of what we find once the walls and floor are open
