Kitchen Remodeling
Remodeling
A kitchen remodel touches almost every trade in a home: demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical, ventilation, drywall, flooring, cabinetry and finishes. Keeping all of that on schedule is the hard part. We manage kitchen remodels from first sketch to final walkthrough for homeowners in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, with one point of contact the whole way through.
Start with how you use the kitchen
Before we talk about finishes, we talk about how the room works. How many people cook at once? Where do groceries land? Do you need seating, a pantry, or a place for children to do homework? The answers drive the layout: where the sink, range and refrigerator go, how much counter space sits between them, and whether walls or an island make sense.
Levels of kitchen remodel
- Refresh: keep the layout and replace surfaces such as cabinet doors or paint, countertops, backsplash, fixtures and lighting.
- Full remodel in the same footprint: new cabinets, counters, flooring, lighting and appliances, with plumbing and electrical updated as needed.
- Layout change: moving the sink or range, adding an island, or removing or opening a wall. This takes more planning, may need structural work, and usually requires permits.
Our process
1. Consultation and measurements. We visit, measure, talk through your goals and budget, and look at existing plumbing, wiring and walls.
2. Design and selections. We agree a layout, then you choose cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, fixtures and appliances. Ordering early matters, because some items have long lead times.
3. Written scope and schedule. You get a detailed scope listing what is included, the order of work and the expected timeline.
4. Permits. Where the work requires permits, as most plumbing, electrical and structural changes do, we handle the applications and inspections.
5. Construction. Demolition, rough plumbing and electrical, inspections, insulation and drywall, then flooring, cabinets, counters, backsplash, fixtures and appliances.
6. Walkthrough. We go through the finished kitchen with you, fix anything on the punch list, and leave the space clean.
What affects the cost
- Cabinet construction and whether they are stock, semi-custom or custom
- Countertop material, such as laminate, quartz or natural stone
- Moving plumbing, gas or electrical, or removing walls
- Flooring, tile and lighting choices
- Appliances and ventilation requirements
Living through a remodel
You will be without a working kitchen for part of the project. We will tell you in advance when the water and power will be off, help you plan a temporary kitchen area, and keep dust contained to the work area as much as possible.
